Our Upcoming Events

In collaboration with Lovelace Embrace, PWH is thrilled to host Yoga and Guided Relaxation, every Tuesday from 5:00-6:30pm. These free yoga classes are designed specifically for patients who have been diagnosed and treated for cancer.

This is a wonderful group of Warriors, from all ages and stages, coming together to support one another through the journey of breast cancer.

Please join us at Pink Warrior House for a dance party, hosted by fellow Warrior Rebecca!  From Rebecca, "Rediscover the joy of dance in a safe and supportive environment."

Please join PWH in welcoming Judy Gallegos, healer and reiki master, who will share her time and talents with a special sound bath experience, using her wide variety of singing bowls. This event can be attended virtually or in-person, at Pink Warrior House.

Come join us for a fun filled evening of pampering and learning!  Our host Leandra Baca, owner of Hidden Treasure Salon and cancer survivor, will teach us how to address the changes that occur to our skin and faces during and after cancer treatment.

Kintsugi (golden joinery) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum, a method similar to the maki-e technique.  As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.

These monthly gatherings will be for our loved ones as they navigate the journey of caring for and supporting a cancer thriver in their lives. It will be a peer led group, co-facilitated by Chris Smith and Amy Liotta who both lovingly walked beside their spouses while they were battling cancer.

For this month’s installment of our PWH Monthly VIRTUAL Lecture Series, we welcome back Certified Holistic Health and Cancer Coach Amanda Kelly.  Amanda will be hosting a two-part series for us. On March 14th, The Healing Power of Fermented Foods, and on March 21st Fight Inflammation Through Plant-Based Nutrition.

This is a wonderful group of Warriors, from all ages and stages, coming together to support one another through the journey of breast cancer.

As our community of Pink Warriors grows, we have many more members who are on the journey specific to metastatic disease (Stage IV). We understand that some of your needs and experiences are unique, and we want to provide a forum where you can come together (virtually) with other metastatic warriors to share, listen, and support one another. This group will be offered in collaboration with Amy Bellomo Robinson, and the Radiant Healing Community.

Come out and run, walk, skip…just move with us on Saturday, March 18th for TCR Race Productions Shamrock N’ Roll event to benefit Pink Warrior House Foundation!

$5 from every registration will be donated to help local breast cancer thrivers through Pink Warrior House Foundation, in addition to all registration donations.

Pink Warrior House, Lovelace Embrace and the Young Survival Coalition co-host this monthly gathering. We hope you can join us, as this is a chance to meet others who have been through similar diagnosis, treatment and life changes.

This is a wonderful group of Warriors, from all ages and stages, coming together to support one another through the journey of breast cancer. It is a peer support group, facilitated by other breast cancer thrivers. We listened to the feedback we received about hybrid programming and have decided the adjust our approach. Moving forward, this group will now be IN-PERSON ONLY on the last Wednesday of each month.

Please join us for our monthly meditation, guided imagery and breath work group. It is a wonderful experience, facilitated by Dr. Barbara May-Valencia, psychologist and breast cancer survivor.

About Pink Warrior House Foundation

Our Team

From our President and Founder, Allison Hendricks-Smith:

“I am a postpartum breast cancer survivor and was saddened during the duration of my years-long treatment journey to realize that we were under-served by meaningful breast cancer specific supports for those battling this difficult disease within our community.  While our medical treatment options are quite strong, they don’t always address the mental, emotional, and social needs that arise during the journey for the patient and their caregiver(s).  Pink Warrior House was born out of a vision to provide a centralized community of support for our breast cancer Warriors and their caregivers. We believe that we can, and should, be better about supporting those going through this difficult fight!”

We currently have a eight-member Board of Directors who have strong ties to the Breast Cancer community.

Allison has been serving in  non-profit leadership roles within our community for more than 17 years. She is a licensed mental health counselor, a dedicated and compassionate leader and a proven community organizer. She may be reached at allison@pinkwarriorhouse.org or at 505.577.5264

Fundraising

The Pink Warrior House Foundation is a registered 501(C)3 tax exempt organization.  We are so grateful for monetary and in-kind donations that allow us to both continue and expand our program services, purchase materials (for Warrior Bags, new wigs, prosthesis, bras, art supplies, etc.), recruit practitioners and volunteers, and to continue heightening awareness about our services throughout the community.  We would very much appreciate your generous support! Please click on the “donate now” link above, or follow this QR code to navigate directly to our PayPal page for a one-time or monthly tax deductible contribution.

Leadership, Planning, and Community Engagement

We currently have an eight-member Board of Directors who have strong ties to the Breast Cancer community here in Bernalillo County.  Some of whom are breast cancer survivors and caregivers. We have and continue to connect with survivors to get their thoughts and ideas on what would help or would have helped during their treatment journeys. We also work with oncologists, nurses, nurse navigators, and other medical practitioners to attain their inputs and suggestions as well.

Our History

We were incorporated in January of 2019, and received our 501(C)3 that May. Since that time we have built and continue to grow our robust programming, expanded our membership community by hundreds, established a strong board of directors, partnered with local businesses, and recruited many loyal and dedicated volunteers and practitioners, and establishing our beautiful home on the grounds of Albuquerque’s historic Painted Lady B&B. It has been a busy few years, and we are proud of our growth and commitment to the local breast cancer community.
