Pink Warrior House Foundation - Registered 501(C)-3 Non Profit

Our Upcoming Events

In collaboration with Lovelace Embrace, PWH is thrilled to host Yoga and Guided Relaxation, every Tuesday from 5:00-6:30pm. These free yoga classes are designed specifically for patients who have been diagnosed and treated for cancer.

Come join us for an exciting evening of painting and fun! 25% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Pink Warrior House Foundation, to support those battling breast cancer here in New Mexico. We hope you can join us for this fantastic experience! 💕

This is a wonderful group of Warriors, from all ages and stages, coming together to support one another through the journey of breast cancer.

Please join PWH in welcoming Judy Gallegos, healer and reiki master, who will share her time and talents with a special sound bath experience, using her wide variety of singing bowls.

Pink Warrior House, Lovelace Embrace and the Young Survival Coalition co-host this monthly gathering. We hope you can join us, as this is a chance to meet others who have been through similar diagnosis, treatment and life changes.

We are thrilled to partner with our friends at New Mexico Cancer Center to bring our Beautiful Warrior Class to their location this month. Come join us for a fun filled experience of pampering and learning on Friday, August 12th from 10:00-11:30am. It is necessary to RSVP for this event. Also, please feel free to bring a friend or family member, and be sure to include them in your RSVP.

This group will be hosted by Allison Hendricks-Smith, LMHC, Master’s of Art in Art Therapy/Counseling. For this month we are borrowing an idea originally shared by Creative Expressions Consulting utilizing meditation along with collaging to promote grounding for ourselves.

In this meditative event, we will learn what mindful meditation is, and how it differs from meditation alone. We will then practice how to do mindful meditation and, with the use of tools, clear out any negativity.

This installment of our monthly (virtual) lecture series will address pertinent and recent research relating nutrition including specific nutrients and foods to fuel either the promotion of health or the promotion of a toxic, inflammatory, chronic-disease-promoting internal environment in the body with a special focus on breast cancer.

Hosted by New Mexico’s first sip and paint studio, Kelly Jo Designs by Wine! As with all PWH Programs, this class is free of charge for anyone personally impacted by breast cancer.

Come join us for a fun filled evening of pampering and learning! Our host Leandra Baca, owner of Hidden Treasure Salon and cancer survivor, will teach us how to address the changes that occur to our skin and faces during and after cancer treatment.

Please join us for our monthly meditation, guided imagery and breath work group. It is a wonderful experience, facilitated by Dr. Barbara May-Valencia, psychologist and breast cancer survivor. We will be meeting via Zoom, from 5:00-6:00pm. Please find the link below.

Making a Difference

The Mission of Pink Warrior House Foundation is to provide a community which supports those battling breast cancer, and their caregiver(s), with emotional and social service to foster hope and positive outcomes.

Pink Warrior House offers support groups, art therapy, yoga, meditation, mindfulness classes, nutritional support, a wig exchange, a “Battle Buddy” network to pair those newly diagnosed with someone who has been through a similar fight.  A “punch” card to provide complimentary access to local fitness locations, transportation to treatment and appointments, and other services as recognized needs arise.  All services are available at no cost to anyone affected by breast cancer.

About Pink Warrior House Foundation

Our Team

From our President and Founder, Allison Hendricks-Smith:

“I am a postpartum breast cancer survivor and was saddened during the duration of my year-long treatment journey to realize that we are under-served by supports for those fighting breast cancer within our community.  While our medical treatment options are quite strong, they do little to address the mental, emotional, and social needs that arise during this journey for the patient and for their caregiver(s).  I am so grateful for the few services that are available, however they are often difficult to locate and are typically offered through our hospitals for the patients of that particular organization.  Pink Warrior House was born out of a vision for a centralized community of support for our breast cancer Warriors and their caregivers. We want to bring together the services that do exist, and add so many more options for mental, emotional and social support. I believe that we can, and should, be better about supporting those going through this difficult fight!”

We currently have a nine-member Board of Directors who have strong ties to the Breast Cancer community.

Allison has been serving non-profits within our community for more than 15 years. She is a licensed mental health counselor, a dedicated and compassionate leader and a proven community organizer. She may be reached at [email protected] or at 505.577.5264

Pink Warrior House received our 501(C)-3 nonprofit status in May 2019.  We are always looking for monetary and in-kind donations to solidify our program services, purchase materials for our welcome bags (this will be our initial introduction to all patients), recruit practitioners and volunteers, and begin to heighten awareness about our services throughout the community.  We would love your support! Leadership, Planning, and Community Engagement

We currently have a nine-member Board of Directors who have strong ties to the Breast Cancer community here in Bernalillo County.  Some of whom are actual breast cancer survivors and caregivers.  We have talked to Oncologists, Nurses, Navigators, and other medical practitioners to attain their inputs and ideas.  Finally, we have reached out to survivors to get their suggestions on what would help or would have helped during their treatment journeys.

2019-2020 Launch

We received our 501(C)-3 in late May of 2019.  Since that time we have been building our board of directors, starting to partner with local businesses, recruiting volunteers, trying to get the word out to our local Warriors and their caregivers; all with the hope of launching during breast cancer awareness month in October, and going live with program services in early 2020.

One of the elements of most importance to us was deciding where Pink Warrior House would be located. We are absolutely thrilled to announce the  home of Pink Warrior House Foundation at 1106 Bellamah Ave NW, on the grounds of the historic Painted Lady Bed and Brew. In the heart of Albuquerque, we are centrally located, and easily accessible from all directions. We have roughly 1,000 square feet of indoor space, and some of the most spectacular outdoor spaces in the area, to support our community of Warriors!
